How to keep volleyball stats
To keep volleyball stats as a parent, follow one player and choose three or four stats. Mark each one the moment the rally ends. These beginner steps work on paper or in Statline: Sports Stat Tracker.
1. Follow one player
A full stat sheet tracks six players on every touch. That is a job for a stat crew. Pick your player and watch them, rally after rally.
2. Choose a few stats
Start with the plain ones. A kill is an attack that wins the point outright. An ace is a serve that wins the point outright. A block is a ball stopped at the net. A dig is a hard-driven ball kept off the floor. Pick the three or four that match your player's position.
3. Mark it when the rally ends
Rallies are fast. Wait until the ball is dead, then make the mark. On paper that is a tally. In Statline it is one tap on a big button in the thumb zone. Hold a button, then tap to take one off. Undo reverses the last change.
4. Check between sets
Look over the totals between sets and fix anything you doubt. Statline keeps the score and every total at the top of the screen.
5. Choose the headline when the match ends
The scoreboard says who won the sets. Your stat line says what your player did. In Statline you pick a headline stat and up to two more. The card arrives in your club's colors.
Across the season
Averages update after every match. In Pro, the form guide lays the last five side by side.
